Bitwarden strategic changes undergoing

Bitwarden underwent leadership changes in early 2026. Michael Crandell reportedly moved from CEO to an advisory role in February 2026, and Michael Sullivan became CEO. CFO Stephen Morrison reportedly left in April 2026 and was replaced by Michael Shenkman. Founder Kyle Spearrin remains CTO.

They also changed parts of their public messaging. Their GRIT values changed from “Gratitude, Responsibility, Inclusion, Transparency” to “Gratitude, Responsibility, Innovation, Trust.” The phrase “always free” was removed from the prominent personal password manager page, while they stated it will remain as part of the plans.
