IFIN started as a frustrated conversation among information security professionals in March of 2025. We started organizing in stealth shortly thereafter, developing a mission, strategizing, and eventually deciding on a not-for-profit structure. We went public in April, quickly building a core community that saw the need for an independent entity dedicated to sharing threat intelligence and best practices. Since then, we've been working to build our platform and services to fill this need. We also moved as quickly as possible to file our application for tax-exempt status with the Internal Revenue Service.
