Hello everyone I’m MustardFacial. I’m Canadian and old enough to have the 56K modem noise forever burned into my memory.
I’ve spent the last decade or so in networking and infrastructure administration and have only started down the infosec path in the last couple years. However, I do find my previous experience building systems tends to give me a leg up on some of my colleagues who only have a cybersecurity education.
Grew up in the days of IRC, phpBB forums, and the tail end of BBS’s and that’s where my deep desire for infosec, and hacking in general started. I fully believe there is a difference between the “infosec community” and the “infosec industry” and I will do everything I can to help out the community wherever possible.
I’m an absolutely atrocious programmer, and I’m still trying to bridge the gaps in my knowledge between the infrastructure side and the infosec side so I don’t know if I’ll have a lot to contribute just yet, but I probably will have a lot of very amateur questions.
